About

Hi, I'm Matt Gaiser. I'm a software engineer in Calgary who works on applied AI. Most of my days go to building with AI coding agents, testing where they hold up and where they fall apart, and helping teams figure out how to put them to real use.

I studied computer engineering at Queen's University. Before AI took over my working life, I spent most of my spare time competing. Major League Hacking named me one of its Top 50 hackers of 2020, and I was the top-ranked solver on MindSumo, a crowdsourced problem-solving platform, where I won challenges set by NASA, Cisco, Scotiabank, and others.

This blog is where I write about technology, AI, economics, careers, and whatever else is worth saying. I've also written for the Stack Overflow Blog and DEV.
